hey! I stumbled across your blog while looking up some things for the Peace Corps, and really enjoyed reading it.
I thought that you would appreciate a letter, so I wrote you one. lol.:)
Well, keep up the awesome work!
Hello, I came across your blog as well. I will be departing for Peace Corps Senegal next month and wanted to know if I could ask you a few questions, hear your stories, etc. Looking forward to the days to come!

Hello Nathan:
My name is Elizabeth McLaughlin and I am a former Peace Corps volunteer. I, too, lived in the Casamance region but in a small village outside of Bingona (spelling??). I was in Senegal in the early 80's. Thanks to technology, being in a developing country must not be as difficult as it was for me. The only form of communication in those days was "snail mail." It made those trips to town to receive mail very special.
Anyway, I agree with your views about the Peace Corps. We had a saying: instead of the toughest job you'll ever love, we changed it to the easiest job you'll ever hate. I think you know what I mean... Having said all of this, my PC experience was the most humbling, gratifying, and life-altering event thus far. The relationships formed during these years are the ones that are the most dear to me - even after 20 plus years. Trust me you will think so too in time to come ... Best of luck to you!!! I was working on a project for school (I am a teacher) and stumbled across your website....
